Expert consulting, design and project implementation in the power field.
Monitoring, Analysis, and Reports
We begin a new Power Factor project after first providing each customer with a free estimate of PF charges, estimated project pricing, and other related information. We follow up with a site visit to monitor the facility power system, perform an engineering analysis, and issue a report. Several design considerations need to be determined during this process, including:
The total Kilovars needed to avoid the utility Power Factor penalty
Voltage level where the capacitor bank is installed
Load profile to decide fixed versus automatic bank
If automatic, the number and Kilovar size of capacitor steps
Measuring harmonics to determine if a filtered bank is required
Accessories - main breaker or switch, ground switch, PF controller, indication, and protective relaying
